Canon and Lore

All information in this wiki falls into one of two catagories: Lore and Canon. While this is a public wiki, the wiki team asks that you please respect these pages, and follow the below guidelines.

Canon

This information comes straight from the mouths of the administrators and creators of the game, primarily Aelanna.  Canon is the common ground shared throughout the universe, which all stories should (do their best to) conform to in the interest of continuity. This is core history and knowledge of the TDZK universe, and is immutable.

Most information marked as Canon usually is such. Information marked as canon bears one of the following tags:

{{canon}}

Use this tag when the entire article is canonical information. Please note, however, that pages marked with this tag should not be editing unless there is a mistake, or some new information has presented itself (or been left out). Using this tag will also place the article in Category:Canon.

{{scanon}}

This tag is to mark sections of an article as canon; while it is usually best to seperate lore and canonical information seperately, there may be some instances in which it is wiser to place them together (see Help:Contents#Within the Same Article).

Lore

Lore is everything else that has been written and established by players outside of the administration; the quality and depth of lore varies, but helps to round out the quality of the universe. There are less stringent requirements on lore, but please be sure to consult with established canon and lore before contributing your own.

Information marked as Lore bears one of the following tags:

{{lore}}

Use this tag when the entire article is lore, or you are unsure of which tag to use. Using this tag will also place the article in Category:Lore.

Within the Same Article

Generally, it is best to keep Lore and Canon seperate; there are instances, however, where it may be applicable to use them together. Some of the instances may include:

  • When the page contains little to no descriptive text, and is merely a gateway to other articles (Systems, for example.)
  • When there is established Canon information on an otherwise Lore only page

There may be other instances, but please use discretion when using the {{scanon}} and {{slore}} tags.

Another form of distinguishing Lore and Canon in an article would be to denote Lore (or Canon, if the article is mostly Lore) items with an asterisk (*).
